Bikram Yoga is a set sequence of yoga postures that Bikram Choudhury created and synthesized from traditional hatha yoga techniques and popularized in the early 1970s. Bikram Yoga classes run exactly 90 minutes and consist of a set series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises.
Bikram Yoga is the most popular and original form of hot yoga.
It has been proven and experienced by millions that these 26 postures systematically work every part of the body. Each posture stretches and strengthens specific muscles, ligaments and joints needed for the next posture. The Bikram method also stimulates the organs, glands and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100 percent of the body, restoring all systems to a healthy working order.
The heated studio will be built in such a way that you always get the proper heating. Bikram scientifically designed this 90-minutes yoga practice to deliver total health through the balancing and strengthening of every system in the body in order to prevent illness and injury, promote weight loss, and limit the effects of aging. In addition, the series of postures combine skills of concentration, patience, determination and self-control that increase mental clarity and reduce stress. This yoga practice is done in a heated room to warm your muscles efficiently, prevent injury, allow a deeper workout and cleanse the body by flushing toxins through detoxification and sweating.
So before you change it, you have to heat it up to soften it, because a warm body is a flexible body. Then you can reshape the body any way you want.
The practice stimulates and restores health to every muscle, joint, and organ of the body. The practice of bikram yoga increases circulation to all organs in the body, and this helps in the prevention of heart disease and organ failure.
Notable benefits from a consistent Bikram Yoga practice includes : stress reduction, sleep improvement, hormone re-balance, muscle tone development, flexibility, strength and stamina building, weight loss, circulation and respiratory improvements, help with depression, strengthening of immune system, calming down the nervous system and helps with back pain, spinal complaints, sport injuries and posture correction.
